eLxr Release Images and Upgrades

For details on the available release images and image verification, see Available eLxr 12 Images.

Upgrading From a Prior Release

Perform upgrades to ensure the latest Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) and bug fixes are included in your eLxr installation(s). This includes image and package updates.

To upgrade from a prior release for eLxr Server images, run the following commands in a terminal:

$ apt-get update
$ apt-get dist-upgrade

Note

Currently, system updates are only available for eLxr Server images, or images generated without OSTree support.

To upgrade packages only, in eLxr Edge and Server images, run the following commands in a terminal:

$ apt-get update
$ apt-get upgrade

Package Repository Updates

Prior eLxr releases used the mirror.elxr.dev domain in the /etc/apt/sources.list file to provide package updates. As of the 12.14 release, the eLxr team updated the package repositories to align with the eLxr 26.04 (Bianca) release and upstream Debian. These updates included a change in the domain to mirror.elxr.org and adding the aria-updates and aria-security repositories.

If the /etc/apt/sources.list file in your distribution still includes a single reference to mirror.elxr.dev, do the following:

  1. In a text editor, replace the default reference to mirror.elxr.dev in the /etc/apt/sources.list file with the following content:

    deb http://mirror.elxr.org/elxr aria main main-debian-community non-free-firmware non-free-firmware-debian-community contrib
    deb http://mirror.elxr.org/elxr aria-updates main-debian-community main non-free-firmware contrib non-free-firmware-debian-community
    deb http://mirror.elxr.org/elxr aria-security main-debian-community main non-free-firmware contrib non-free-firmware-debian-community

  2. Update the package index to use the new repositories.

    $ sudo apt-get update

If there are updates available, the system will prompt you to perform them.
